Branstad Names Two New District Judges

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Gov. Terry Branstad had named two new judges to the district court bench in Iowa.

Branstad on Wednesday appointed Larry McLellan to the 5th Judicial District, which covers 16 counties in central and southern Iowa, including Polk County.

McLellan, of West Des Moines, was in private practice. He will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Donna Paulsen.

Branstad has also named Joel Barrows as a judge in the 7th Judicial District, which covers five counties in eastern Iowa, including Scott County.

Barrows, of Bettendorf, worked in the U.S. attorney's office for the Southern District of Iowa. He will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge David Sivright.
