TIFFIN, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the city of Tiffin has issued a boil advisory for part of the eastern Iowa community because of a need to shut off the water supply.

The DRN says Friday that as part of a project to install new pipe connections, crews had to shut off water to up to 600 residents and businesses to complete the work. Older parts of town and the Deer View Estates were under the boil advisory.

The city planned to complete repairs Friday night, but because a loss of water pressure can let bacteria and other substances enter the water, a boil advisory will remain in effect until water samples can be tested.
