Boil Order Issued for Palo
PALO, Iowa – Residents of Palo are being asked to boil their tap water before using it. City officials issued a boil order Friday afternoon after a water main break.
The break happened while construction equipment was installing more public water lines to residents in the area.
People with Palo municipal water supply are being affected and asked to boil their water until further notice.
A boil order is required whenever a water main breaks because increased run-off enters the drinking water source. Along with the loss of pressure, bacterial contamination can occur.
Officials say tap water shouldn't be used for cooking or drinking until the breaks can be repaired, unless the water has been boiled.
