BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa — A 38-year-old man was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after his pickup rolled near Jesup Thursday evening.

Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a single car accident in the 1400 block of 220th Street at approximately 6:45 p.m. Initial reports said the vehicle rolled into a ditch and a man was trapped inside.

When officials arrived, bystanders had helped the man out of the vehicle and he was waiting in another car for medical personnel. The man, James Lavern Bentley of Dunkerton, was driving eastbound on 220th Street when his tire blew out, causing him to lose control of the truck.

The truck did, in fact, roll, entering a ditch and came to rest on its side. Bentley was taken to Buchanan County Health Center

The accident is still under investigation. Jesup Fire/Rescue and Jesup Ambulance assisted Buchanan County officials.
