Black Hawk County Auditor Not a Fan of New Voting System
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - The Black Hawk County auditor says officials probably won't repeat the system of operating consolidated voting centers in Cedar Falls.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Auditor Grant Veeder says he's "not inclined" to use the voter center system again.
Officials tried the system in the Sept. 10 Cedar Falls education board election and saw a big increase in voter participation. But officials also were troubled by an inability to get enough ballots to each center, which caused some voters to wait for up to a half hour to vote.
Under the system, voting for eight precincts was handled at four voting centers. One problem was that officials had to resupply each center with eight different types of ballots to reflect each precinct.
