BHCGA Funding Grant to Help Homeowners Thaw Water Lines

WATERLOO, Iowa - Hundreds of homeowners in the Waterloo area coping with frozen water lines this winter can now apply for financial help.

Waterloo Mayor Buck Clark announced an emergency grant program Tuesday morning to assist income-eligible homeowners with the costs for thawing frozen water service lines.

The Black Hawk County Gaming Association has elected to provide $125,000 to fund the program.

The initial focus will be on homeowners with income levels are at or below 150% of the federal poverty level and live in their home.

The grant fund will be dispersed to approved applicants on a first come first served basis in Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Grundy and Tama counties.

Buchanan County residents may contact the O/T county office at 319.334.6081.

Grundy County residents should contact their O/T offices at
319.824.3460.

The Community Action Agencies (CAA) in Bremer, Chickasaw, Butler and Tama counties will be taking applications which will be forwarded to the Waterloo O/T office.
