  • Photo
KEYSTONE, Iowa - Three people were killed on Saturday night near Keystone after, investigators say, a truck ran through a stop sign and hit the three people in a car on U.S. 30.

The Benton County Sheriff's office says Raul Salazar Jr., 39, of Bushland, Tex., was driving a GMC truck on 16th Avenue, heading north towards U.S. 30 at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Their investigation shows Salazar did not stop at the highway and hit a Chevrolet Impala carrying three people.

Investigators say the three victims were ages 24, 22 and 3. At this time, their names are not being made public. They were found dead at the scene.

Law enforcement officers arrested Salazar and charged him with three counts of homicide by vehicle, preventing apprehension and OWI. Salazar is in the Benton County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

A passenger in the truck, Rafael Moreno, 29, of San Fernando, Calif., is charged with preventing apprehension. Moreno remains jailed on a $7,500 bond in the Benton County Jail.
