Bar Raises Money for Student in Hit and Run

IOWA CITY, Iowa - An Iowa City bar wants to help a University of Iowa student who a hit and run driver struck with a car last month in Indiana.

Nicole Ruffolo suffered injuries when the car hit her on the Purdue University campus. Police have charged the driver with multiple charges, including drunk driving.

On Saturday, the Summit Bar in downtown Iowa City will hold a fundraiser for Ruffolo.

The bar owner says he'll match any donation people make at the bar between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Anyone who enters the bar between those hours can make a donation.

The bar hopes to raise at least $5,000 to help cover Ruffolo's medical bills.
