Banks Scramble to Keep ATMs from Being Hacked
NEW YORK, New York - Banks are racing to upgrade their ATMs before they become prime targets for hackers.
An estimated 95% of American bank ATMs run on the Windows XP operating system. But Microsoft is ending tech support for it on April 8th. That means Microsoft won't issue security updates for Windows XP.
Banks are now working to replace their fleet. Some are even cutting special deals with Microsoft to extend their security support.
