ANAMOSA, Iowa - A preliminary report from the Jones County Medical Examiner has determined Nicole Cox, a guidance counselor for the Anamosa School District, died as a result of drowning.

The results come after her body was recovered more than a mile downstream from where her car was overturned in the Wapsipinicon River on June 1.

A release from the Jones County Sheriff's Office said what caused Cox's vehicle to enter the water remains under investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Jones County Sheriff's Office.

The release said final results from the Iowa State Patrol and the Medical Examiner's office for four to eight weeks.
