Authorities Say Fire At Western Iowa Flower Shop Was Possible Arson
WOODBINE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities are investigating whether a fire that destroyed a building in the western Iowa city of Woodbine was caused by arson.
The State Fire Marshall Division and Woodbine police say Wednesday the Sept. 26 fire that destroyed Everything Ellen Flower Shoppe in the city's downtown may have been intentionally set.
The afternoon fire destroyed the building housing the flower shop and caused structural damage to an adjoining building. Other nearby buildings had water and smoke damage.
Authorities won't divulge how the fire started but say it began on an outside wall along an alley.
Investigators say a man was seen in the alley about two minutes before people noticed smoke.
Authorities ask that anyone who saw someone in the alley near the shop to call the arson hotline at 800-532-1459.
