URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) - Officials have identified the 88-year-old Iowa man who was killed in a weekend house fire in a suburb of Des Moines.

Urbandale Fire Chief Jerry Holt says Donald Running died in the Saturday morning fire. He was found in his first-floor bedroom after the fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Neighbor Pat Sullivan says she's surprised Running wasn't able to escape the fire because he was always active.

Officials say someone else rented a room at the home but wasn't there at the time of the fire.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire that started in the basement.
