Authorities Arrested Stolen Vehicle Suspect
CENTER JUNCTION, Iowa - Jones County Sheriff's Department officers have arrested Dustin Wilson, 34, of Monticello, after they say he stole two vehicles spanning three counties.
At 11:10 a.m. Friday, Monticello Police were given an anonymous tip that Wilson was at a relative's home outside of Center Junction. Jones County Sheriff's Department Officers, Anamosa Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol surrounded the house. At 12:10 p.m., the Jones County Emergency Response Team approached the house. That's when Wilson ran. He was caught a short later without resistance and was taken to the Jones County Jail. He is facing drug charges.
The search for Wilson started Monday morning when the Jones County Sheriff got a report of an assault that happened at a house on Jordan Road outside of Monticello. Authorities said he, then, took the 28-year-old female assault victim and drove to Cascade. He was in a vehicle stolen from Delaware County. That vehicle was found around 6 p.m. Monday in the driveway of a house in the 200 block of Harrison St. SE in Cascade. From there, he ran on foot.
Cascade Police Chief Fred Heim said about 20 to 25 officers from six or seven departments were searching for Wilson Monday evening.
The passenger in the stolen pickup, was taken into custody Monday but later transported to an Anamosa hospital for unknown reasons.
Police found a second stolen vehicle, a dark gray 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in southern Delaware County. Officials believe the SUV was taken around 7 a.m. Tuesday from a residence in the 800 block of Third Ave. SE in Cascade.
Charges connected to the assault and stolen vehicles have not been filed.
