At Least 24 Shots Fired In Iowa City Incident

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Police in Iowa City say they've recovered two dozen shell casings after a weekend shooting incident at the Pheasant Ridge Apartments.

Police responded to the complex located at 2626 Bartelt Rd. around 3 a.m. Sunday after receiving numerous reports of gunshots and yelling, according to a news release.

Police say they found no one injured at the scene as people scattered upon their arrival. Lt. Mike Brotherton, head of investigations, said more shots may have been fired and additional casings could be inside a suspect vehicle.

Police said the incident may be the result of a fight that started at a separate social gathering earlier in the night.

Last month police recovered over a dozen shell casings after a shooting at the same apartment complex. A young women was paralyzed as a result of that shooting, and at least one suspect in the case remains on the run.

Police don't believe the two incidents are related.
