CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - A Cedar Falls man is facing theft, burglary and drug charges following a string of car burglaries.

A news release says police arrested 40-year-old Matthew Tarkett early Wednesday morning while he was sitting in a stolen vehicle in the 4200 block of Spruce Hills Drive. The owner had reported the vehicle stolen about 20 minutes earlier.

Police obtained a warrant to search Tarkett's residence in the 4100 block of Spruce Hills Drive.

Police say recovered evidence led to charges in the theft of four vehicles and the burglary of five vehicles. Police say they also located marijuana during the search. They say the thefts and burglaries date back to Saturday.
