Ankeny Clerk Nails Would-Be Robber With HammerKCCI.com
ANKENY, Iowa - Police said a convenience store clerk fought back during an attempted robbery early Sunday in Ankeny. Officers said they were called to the Kum and Go store at 1025 E. First St. just before 1 a.m.
The clerk said a man who was about 6 feet tall and who appeared to weigh about 250 pounds came into the store wearing overalls and a bandanna on his face. The clerk, who KCCI.com identified only as Glen, said that when the man ordered him to open the cash register, he took a hammer from the counter and hit the robber on the side of the head. After being struck, the would-be robber left the store without getting any money, Glen said. He said in 10 years as a clerk at the store, nothing like this has ever happened to him. Police said they're still looking for the man in connection with the robbery. More Good Stuff |
