Ames Software Company to Hire 700 New Workers

By Larry Burkum

AMES, Iowa (AP) - A software company in Ames says it will hire 700 more workers over the next five years as a condition for $5 million in incentives from the state.

The Des Moines Register reports that as part of the agreement, WebFilings agreed to keep its headquarters in Ames. The incentives - $2.5 million in forgivable loans and a $2.5 million no-interest loan - will help the company build a 60,000-square-foot facility to be complete by late spring.

WebFilings is based at Iowa State University's Research Park. Initially, the company built cloud-based, business-to-business software that made it easier for companies to file required documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

It now also offers internal management communication systems, such as software that lets teams collaborate on spreadsheets and presentations.
