AMES, Iowa (AP) — Officials in Ames are looking for a new temporary library location after they learned their planned spot probably won't be available.
The library plans to move to a temporary location in November so workers can begin a $20 million renovation of the current building.
The Ames Tribune reports the Library Board of Trustees on Thursday authorized a search for alternatives after staffers were told a retailer was interested in taking out a 10-year lease on an old bookstore where they had intended to locate.
Interim library director Lynn Carey says she hopes a new spot can be found soon. She says it won't be clear if the last-minute switch will affect costs until an agreement is finalized.
