Accused Killer Caught in Scott County Following Police Chase

  • Photo
WORTH COUNTY, Iowa - Law officers have captured the man who they believe murdered a woman yesterday in Worth County. State police say 30-year old Justina Smith died from several sharp force injuries.

Investigators believe 39-year-old Tyrone Washington Junior killed her.
They say he stole her car after she called 9-1-1 from a park in the town of Northwood, that's north of Mason City.

State troopers found that car hours later along Interstate 80 near Walcott.
Law officers had to chase Washington through corn and soybean fields along the interstate before finally arresting him. Smith is now in the Scott County Jail on a first degree murder charge.
