Nebraska Man Admits Shooting at Iowa County Rest Stop

IOWA COUNTY - The Nebraska man charged in the shooting death of a maintenance worker at the I-80 Victor rest stop last month admitted he was the shooter, according to a search warrant filed in Iowa County District Court.

The warrant also revealed police found a loaded Ruger 9mm pistol, a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, 9mm ammunition, a cell phone and a stun gun in the vehicle of Peter Riggs, 32.

Riggs is accused of shooting of Jeffrey McAdam, 46, of Victor, in the men’s restroom at the rest area on May 29. Police found McAdam died from a single gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

Riggs has been charged with first degree murder. He is in custody at the Iowa County jail.
