Farmer Discovers Motorcyclist Injured in Crash

BENTON COUNTY - A Dysart man is in the hospital after a motorcycle accident in Benton County.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office the accident happened sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning along Highway 218 near Highway 8, about ten miles west of Vinton. Authorities say the vehicle left the roadway on a curve, struck a reflector post and ended up in the ditch.

A farmer found the 38-year-old man lying in a ditch around 6:30 Sunday morning. According to authorities the driver, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Convenant Hospital in Waterloo.

The name of the man is not being released at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
