WATERLOO (AP) - The trial for a former manager of an Iowa kosher slaughterhouse has been delayed because of health reasons and a Jewish holiday.

Sholom Rubashkin's attorneys say he remained hospitalized Monday with a skin infection and would be unavailable for court Tuesday. A judge last week granted Rubashkin's request to take Wednesday and Thursday off because of the Jewish holiday Shavuot.

The trial, in its second week, is to resume Friday.

Rubashkin is charged with 83 counts of state child labor law violations at the former Agriprocessors plant in Postville. He also is awaiting sentencing on federal financial fraud charges.

Rubashkin's wife, Leah, says he complained about a bite on his arm last week and was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital Sunday after his arm became swollen.
