Iowa Man Pleads Guilty in Throat-Cutting Incident
NEVADA (AP) - An Ames man accused of cutting his friend's throat during horseplay has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Jesse Dean Mosher-Banse was originally charged with willful injury. Online court records show he pleaded guilty on Monday to a reduced charge of assault causing serious injury. Sentencing is June 14 in Story County District Court in Nevada.
Police say they received a call on April 10 from an Ames hospital about a man suffering a serious neck wound. Joe Gallegos told police he had been wrestling with Mosher-Banse when Mosher-Banse put him in a headlock and cut his throat.
Mosher-Banse remains in the Story County jail on $10,000 bond. His attorney, public defender Paul Rounds of Nevada, declined to comment on Wednesday.
