AMES - Police in Ames are investigating the discovery of a body near the campus of Iowa State University.
An officer was examining an area, about one-mile south of ISU's central campus, when he discovered the body of a deceased male inside of a brick structure. The building, which is no longer used for agricultural purposes, is located on ISU’s Old Dairy Farm site.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation. Police have not released the name of the man they found. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday to determine the cause of the death.
Authorities have not said whether the discovery is related to the disappearance of Iowa State University student Jon Lacina.
You'll recall Lacina hasn't been seen since the night of Jan. 22 after leaving a gathering at friend's home in Ames. His father reported him missing eight days later. Several searches of the area have turned up no clues into his disappearance.
