CEDAR RAPIDS - A motorcyclist remains in critical condition on Monday after a crash threw him off a bridge.

It happened just before noon on Sunday on Interstate 380 near the Quaker Oats building.

Police say the Brian Ries, 19, of Toddville, lost control of his motorcycle and hit the guardrail.

The bike stayed on the road, but Ries fell over the bridge onto some grass below.

Ries was initially taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and then airlifted to Iowa City. The crash is still under investigation.
