Satterfield to Testify Against Former Teammate, Take Guilty Plea

IOWA CITY - Paperwork filed Friday morning in Johnson County Court says that former UI football player Abe Satterfield will plead guilty to the charge of assault with intent to inflict serious injury. Sentencing is set for July 23rd at 9:00 a.m. in Johnson County. Court paperwork says that Satterfield will testify for the state in the case against his former teammate Cedric Everson. Satterfield and Cedric Everson III, both 21, were accused of assaulting a woman in an unoccupied Hillcrest Residence Hall dorm room on Oct. 14, 2007. The former defensive backs were accused of second-degree sexual abuse. Satterfield was also accused of third-degree sexual abuse. Both had previously pleaded not guilty. Everson is still scheduled to go on trial in July on his second-degree sexual abuse charge. The court paperwork also says that Satterfield will get a suspended sentence and probation in exchange for his testimony. He’ll also pay a $600 fine and there will be a no contact order with the female victim in the case. Satterfield Court Documents
