CEDAR RAPIDS - It was one year ago today that a Cedar Rapids teen seriously beat a Cedar Rapids police officer leaving him with a serious head injury.

On March 29, 2009, Cedar Rapids police officer Tim Davis and his partner responded to a report of a robbery. When officers got arrived, two of three suspects ran and Davis' partner chased after two of them.

By the time backup arrived, the third person was missing and Davis was the on the ground unconscious.

One year and plenty of court dates, fundraisers, and recovery steps later, this is where the story stands:

The teen accused of striking Davis, Jose Rockiett, has accepted a plea deal. He'll spend up to 25 years behind bars and will most likely serve at least 15 of that before becoming eligible for parole.

The two others teens involved in the robbery, Maurice Harden and Robert Watkins the third, are currently in juvenile custody.

Davis has since returned to work, but only on a limited basis.
