High School Senior Killed in Crash Near Waverly1200 Block of 240th Street, Waverly, Iowa
WAVERLY - A Waverly Shell Rock High School senior was killed Sunday morning following a one-vehicle crash in Bremmer County just southwest of Waverly.
At about 2:45 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle rollover in the 1200 block of 240th Street in Bremer County. Three juvenile occupants were transported by ambulance to a hospital in Waverly. Two were treated for non-life threatening injuries. A third was pronounced dead at the hospital. Waverly Shell Rock High School Principal Ken Winter tells KCRG.com that eighteen-year-old Josh Young, a senior at the school, was killed in the accident. Winter says Young was a quiet, well-liked kid who got along with everybody. He played golf at the school and had a love for the game, according to Winter. Students and staff plan to wear white Monday to honor Young. Winters says grievance resources will be available for students on Monday. The investigation into the cause is ongoing.
