OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — An Omaha man already facing state robbery charges has been indicted by federal authorities, accused of the same four Omaha bank heists.
A news release issued Thursday by the office of U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says Jason McCain was indicted for the December 2009 robberies of a Bank of the West and a First National Bank branch, and the December 2008 and March 2007 robberies of a TierOne Bank branch. All four of those robberies happened in southeast Omaha.
McCain is also a suspect in the Jan. 27 robbery of the Telco Triad Credit Union in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
A spokesman for Gilg says no decision has been made yet on whether McCain will be tried in Nebraska or federal court.
Calls to McCain's lawyers were not immediately returned on Thursday.
