WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Waterloo Community Schools Superintendent Gary Norris has revealed that he is one of three people being investigated by the FBI about the purchase of electronic white boards in Waterloo and his former district in Sarasota, Fla.

Norris told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier on Thursday that he does not know why he is being investigated.

The Waterloo district is installing the devices made by Promethean Activboards in all classrooms at a cost of about $3.5 million. The interactive boards work as computer screens and can be used by teachers for streaming videos or to create lesson plans.

Norris is named in a subpoena issued in U.S. District Court in Tampa, Fla. Also named are the Waterloo and Sarasota schools, as well as a Florida couple who did consulting work for Waterloo Schools.
