MASON CITY (AP) - Authorities are still investigating a deadly pileup on Interstate 35 near Latimer in northern Iowa, but they acknowledged the cause may never be known.

The Iowa State Patrol says the Jan. 25 accident during a blizzard involved drivers from at least 10 states. The crash scene with 38 vehicles stretched about 600 feet along the southbound lane.

Craig Johnson, of Rochester, Minn., was killed in the pileup. More than a dozen people were injured.

Trooper Mark Ades says he's receiving calls weekly from lawyers, accident victims and insurance companies.

Ades was helping to shut down I-35 when the accident occurred. The interstate was eventually closed from Ames to the Minnesota border.
