High Speed Chase in Waterloo Ends in Crash

WATERLOO - A high speed police pursuit ended in a crash in Waterloo just after 5:30 Friday night.

Police chased a speeding vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered the car had been reported stolen. When the driver attempted to make a right hand turn onto Lafayette Street, he collided head-on with a minivan.

The driver then fled on foot, but police caught him a short time later. The driver of the van was taken to the hospital for an ankle injury.

Police say the 14-year-old driver is facing multimiple charges and is being held at the North Iowa Detention Center.
