INDEPENDENCE - Drivers and clean up crews faced a mess on Wednesday in Buchanan County.

Highway 150 between Independence and County Road D-47 was closed because of this semi accident. It has reopened.

The Rowley fire chief says a semi carrying about 850 car batteries, 45,000 pounds worth, went into an overflow area for a nearby creek.

The semi driver swerved to avoid another accident, came to a stop on the road, but then tipped into the water.

A HAZMAT crew is helping clean up the area.
