Defibrilators in Every Cedar Rapids Police Car

CEDAR RAPIDS - A local hospital made a donation that will put life saving equipment in every Cedar Rapids police car.

St. Luke's Health Care Foundation donated 50 defibrillators to the Police Department on Tuesday.

Police Chief Greg Graham said this donation is important because police officers are also first responders.

"Generally we're the first ones there so us having the ability to place this device on people who are in distress is monumental in saving lives," said Greg Graham, Cedar Rapids Police Chief.

The donation is part of St. Luke's Heart Safe Community project.

Leaders say this donation helps build a safety net for cardiac patients in Cedar Rapids.
