DES MOINES (AP) — Des Moines police have released more information about the attempted sexual assault of a woman last week by an officer.
Authorities say the attempted assault took place in an industrial area of Des Moines, about two miles from where the man met the woman during response to a call.
Police on Monday also released a recording of the woman's 911 call. During the call, the woman reported she'd been assaulted by a police officer, who she identified by name.
Officer Maynard Richardson was arrested Friday on a charge of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. According to police, the 35-year-old Richardson did not remove his or the woman's clothing during the alleged incident.
Richardson, who is free on bond, is on paid administrative leave pending completion of a departmental investigation. It hasn't been determined if Richardson has legal representation.
