BRANDON (AP) - An Iowa man faces life in prison after being charged with being a career criminal in possession of a gun.
A federal grand jury on Jan. 26 indicted 45-year-old Todd Allen Clark of Brandon with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition. The indictment was unsealed Tuesday when Clark was taken into custody.
Clark was arrested during a Dec. 17 traffic stop after Buchanan County sheriff's deputies found him in possession of a shotgun and ammunition. Court records indicates the weapon lacked a serial number.
Federal prosecutors say Clark, a self-employed scrap metal recycler, has three prior convictions for burglaries in Buchanan and Benton counties. They bar him from possessing firearms.
The trial of Clark, who is being held without bail, is tentatively set for April. It wasn't immediately determined if Clark has obtained legal representation.
