HIAWATHA — Authorities say a Cedar Rapids woman was knocked over and trapped under her vehicle when a one-vehicle wreck turned into a two-vehicle crash Monday night.
It started when a vehicle driven by Robyn R. Savchenko, 30, slid into the north ditch on Blairs Ferry Road near Commune Court around 9:25 p.m. Savchenko got out and was standing next to the passenger’s door of the vehicle, which was still partially on the shoulder, when another vehicle struck it, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
The second vehicle, driven by Jessica R. Mabry, 31, of Marion, went out of control at hit Savchenko and her vehicle, authorities said. Savchenko was pushed under her vehicle and trapped for a short time.
Savchenko and her husband, Travis Savchenko, 34, were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said. Their daughter also was inside the vehicle but was not injured.
Mabry, her husband James Mabry, 39, and their three minor children were all in their vehicle, but none of them were transported for medical treatment.
The accident remains under investigation.
