CEDAR RAPIDS - Imagine getting ready to take hundreds of pounds of school supplies and comfort toys to children on another continent.
That is what Stephanie Wright is helping put together this weekend at the African American Museum of Iowa.
Wright is collecting pencils for kids in South Africa, but also items that will try to help the children cope with poverty and uncertainty.
"There are at least a half million children there affected by AIDS, with parents who have died or are in orphanages. They are in desperate need," said Stephanie Wright, missionary.
This is part of Faith at Works Ministries, located in Detroit.
Wright said she is hoping they can collect enough items to fill four of these large - and very heavy - black bags.
