State Investigates Hacking of Computer Server
DES MOINES (AP) - The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission says someone gained access to a computer server that holds more than 80,000 records containing casino employee information.
The Department of Administrative Services notified the commission Wednesday that the server had been compromised on Tuesday. The person who hacked into the system had used a computer with an external account. The server contains records including names, birth dates and Social Security numbers. The commission advises that people who have obtained occupational licenses to work at Iowa racing and gaming venues to keep an eye on their credit reports and report any unusual activity to police.
