SIOUX CITY (AP) - A trial is under way in northwest Iowa for a man accused of being responsible for a 2003 accident that killed four girls.

Andrea Phillips, 13, and her sister, Kallie, 10, and two other girls were killed near Pierson. The girls were on two snowmobiles that were hit by a pickup truck, driven by Daniel Bouc.

Darwin and Jacklyn Phillips, the two girls' parents, are suing Bouc and his father, Fred, for negligence.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Bouc, who was 16 at the time, slammed on his brakes and swerved, but couldn't avoid the collision.

The trial is being held in Woodbury County District Court.
