DES MOINES (AP) - The primary election is nearly six months away, but the pace of campaigning is picking up with a flurry of fundraising announcements and organizational moves.

In the central Iowa's 3rd congressional district, five candidates are seeking the Republican nomination to face incumbent Democrat Rep. Leonard Boswell.

GOP candidate Jim Gibbons says he'll report later this month that he's raised more than $200,000 for his campaign. Others seeking the Republican nomination are J. Patrick Bertroche, David Funk, Mark Robert Rees and Sen. Brad Zaun.

Iowa's governor's race has drawn a lot of attention and plenty of donations to two leading candidates. Terry Branstad's campaign also has announced a 300-person organizational committee with leaders in all of Iowa's 99 counties.
