CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - James Bentley wants to appeal.
The 35-year-old Vinton man was sentenced last week to 100 years in prison on six counts of sexual exploitation and child pornography. There is no parole in the federal system.
Bentley filed a notice of appeal Tuesday.
His attorney, Mark Brown, says Bentley will appeal both his sentence and conviction. Brown also says Bentley is asking for another attorney to be appointed in the appeal.
Bentley was accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of two children -- Jetseta Gage and a one-year-old girl.
A jury in March convicted Bentley of taking the photos and then transporting them to Arkansas when he moved there with his family in 2004.
Gage was kidnapped from her Cedar Rapids home and killed in 2005. Bentley's brother, Roger, was convicted of those crimes and sentenced to life in prison.
