Iowa Man Pleads Not Guilty in Roommate's Death

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A Sioux City man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges more than one month after his roommate was found dead in their kitchen.

Police say Sinh Manivanh (SIN' MAHN'-ee-wahn) shot 62-year-old Phomma Vanhthong (POH'-muh WONG'-tong) to death on Nov. 17. Police say the two got into an argument in their apartment.

Police say Manivanh admitted to the shooting during a 911 call.

Mike Williams of the state public defender's office was appointed his attorney.

Trial is scheduled for Feb. 9.
