WATERLOO - We are following a developing story out of Waterloo. Police are investigating a robbery at a liquor store where gunfire injured at least one man.
Police are still trying to sort through the details, but we do know that the incident happened shortly after one Tuesday morning at the East Fourth Street Liquor Store in Waterloo.
Police say a man driving by witnessed a group of people dressed in black standing outside the liquor store. Moments after authorities say an employee was shot in the bicep and the store's cash register was taken.
An ambulance was on scene to transport the victim to an area hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities say this robbery was the third liquor store robbery in Waterloo in the past week.
On Dec. 22, Elite Liquor was robbed by two men armed with guns. A shot was fired inside the store at the time, but no one was injured.
On Dec. 23, City Liquor & Tobacco was also robbed by two men carrying handguns and wearing dark clothing. No one was injured in that robbery.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
