Waterloo Officer Cleared in Fatal Shooting

By Daren Sukhram

WATERLOO - A grand jury has refused to indict a police officer for the shooting that killed a Waterloo man.

State investigators say Waterloo police first used a taser to try and subdue Eric Rule last September before an officer shot and killed the man.

Police say a disorderly conduct call sent several officers to a home on Keystone Street. They say Rule ended up struggling with Officer Steve Bose who then shot him.

The grand jury found Bose's action was justified. Waterloo police say Bose will remain on administrative re-assignment pending an internal review.
