IOWA CITY -Two Iowa City teens were arrested early Saturday after they allegedly broke into a home and robbed the residents at gunpoint earlier in the week.
Police said Christopher J. Rios, 18, 2401 Highway 6 East, unit 4428, and Robert K. Self, 17, of Iowa City, broke into 1020 E. Jefferson St. around 10:45 p.m. Dec. 17 wearing masks, armed with either a shotgun or a rifle, and ordered the residents into one room.
Rios and Self took turns watching the residents while the other took their wallets, cash and cell phones, while the other one collected electronics, according to criminal complaints.
Police said the residents were repeatedly threatened during the robbery, including one of the men waving a knife and threatening to cut the residents.
Nobody was injured in the robbery.
Both Rios and Self were charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery, and going armed with intent.
Rios was also charged with eluding and possession of stolen property after he was allegedly spotted driving a car reported to be stolen on Nov. 21, where he led police on a chase from Iowa City to West Branch.
Rios remains in the Johnson County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond, and Self posted a $30,00 bond.
