Trial set for Becker in Eluding Case

ALLISON (AP) - A judge has set a trial in an eluding case against the man accused of killing an Iowa high school football coach.

Online court records show Judge Christopher Foy on Monday set
the trial for Mark Becker on March 9 in Butler County.

Becker, of Parkersburg, is accused of threatening a Cedar Falls man and damaging his garage on June 20. Authorities say he led police on a chase. After his arrest, Becker was admitted to a Waterloo hospital for evaluation, then released June 23.

The next morning, Becker allegedly shot Aplington-Parkersburg coach Ed Thomas.

Becker is charged with first-degree murder in Thomas' slaying. A trial in that case has not been set.
