IOWA CITY - An Arkansas man was arrested and brought back to Iowa City last week for allegedly sexually abusing a young girl on several occasions.

Police said Travis Porter, 42, was arrested on Dec. 11 in Osceola, Iowa, for accusations of committing sexual acts on a girl, from the time she was 6 or 8 until she was 12, from 1998 to 2003 in Iowa City.

The girl told police that Porter would force her to lie on top of him as he would move around, and he would touch her inappropriately, according to criminal complaints. The police report says that Porter also allegedly forced the girl to touch him inappropriately.

Police said Porter made threats to the girl that he would harm her family if she told what he was doing, and on one occasion when the girl tried to prevent him from touching her, he allegedly grabbed her by the throat and forced her to lie down.

He was charged with second-degree sexual abuse and is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
