CEDAR RAPIDS - A flood damaged Cedar Rapids building is coming back with some unique ideas.

The Cherry Building at 329 10th street SE put on a big festival Saturday to celebrate local artists.

On the first floor is a new ceramics center. The area features both pottery and glass stations, as well as local artists in residence.

John Beckelman teaches art at Coe College. He said pottery is one form of art that everyone can enjoy. He said even at its most simplistic form, you can appreciate the result. He sits on the board for The Ceramics Center and says its unique to Iowa.

"Major metropolitan areas in other states have things like this, but there's nothing else like this in Iowa at this point in time," said Beckelman.

Classes are available at the site, and all of the information is available on the web at www.theceramicscenter.org
