GRINNELL (AP) - Grinnell firefighters who responded to a house fire southeast of the city say they rescued three dogs and a rabbit, and revived a cat that had been overcome by smoke or fumes.

No one was in the two-story home when the fire started Friday afternoon, but neighbors told firefighters that there were pets trapped inside.

Fire officials were on scene for five hours and said that the home sustained $50,000 in damages. They also said that Red Cross will be assisting the family of three in finding shelter.
